COUNSELLING
SERVICES
The SLCC ethos is simple, we take a practical holistic approach to psychotherapy and well-being which can involve the whole family wherever possible. Our experience covers a wide range which includes working closely with Family Law Practitioners.
Further supporting and advising corporate and educational settings, which require a different model and approach.
Our high standards and level of professional experience has been acknowledged and rewarded by 'The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society'as we proudly became a member of the Children and Young People's Therapist (CYPT) Accredited Register.
My experience working with young people in both independent and state sector of education gives me an insight into the 'whole situation'. Where possible we can work closely with educational settings and other professionals in managing and developing coping strategies that best suits the client’s needs.

In Independent educational settings we recognise it is not just day students who struggle with mental health issues, foreign students arriving at British Boarding Schools struggle silently, hoping that someone will see and acknowledge theirs.
We are culturally aware, understanding and caring, professionals who offer a safe and calm environment where people can explore their feelings openly and honestly.
We offer support to neurodiversity: A.S.D., ADHD, mental health issues such as Hoarding Disorder, SpLD, exam stress, anxiety, abortion, survivors of sexual abuse, OCD, domestic abuse: physical, emotional, financial and coercive behaviour, anger management, bereavement, palliative care: end-of-life, cyberbullying, eating disorders, gaming and gambling related self-harm/self-injury, trichotillomania (hair pulling), suicidal ideation, survivors of bereavement by suicide, relational issues, gender exploration, Non-Binary, lack of confidence and self-esteem. Health issues around long Covid e.g. brain fog and body changes.
I use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as DBT/CBT (Dialectical, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), psychoeducation, meditation and mindfulness. Furthermore, encouraging self-management in developing skills that can support both your physical and emotional well-being.

"My daughter has been seeing Cathy for just over 18 months.
She is neurodivergent and suffers from significant PTSD. She has many social and emotional difficulties and acute anxieties. She has significantly self harmed and had suicidal ideation in the past . She does not attend school. Cathy has always treated her with compassion and respect . Cathy has built a counselling relationship with my daughter that nurtures trust and created an environment in which my daughter has been able to explore the issues surrounding her PTSD. She has gained confidence and strategies to help her navigate her anxieties.
She is now at a point where she wants to build friendships. She is looking forward ro returning to school when a suitable one is found . She would never have considered these two things 18 months ago.
I highly recommend Cathy. The changes in my daughter are amazing. Although she still has work to do I am confident, that with Cathys's help, she will get there".

Thank you, I have no doubt she will!!
